inoculate
Deliberately introduce, in contrast to contamination.
1. In bacteriology, tissue culture, etc., placing an inoculum into (or onto) medium to initiate a culture.
2. In immunology, to carry out immunization.
3. In plant pathology, application of pathogen spores etc. on to plants under conditions where infection should result in the absence of resistance.
