receptor-binding screening

receptor-binding screening
A biotechnology-based method for drug discovery, which relies on the fact that many drugs act by binding to specific receptors on or in cells. Since receptors in vivo bind to hormones or to other cells, and thereby control the cell's behaviour, a receptor bound with a drug will likely affect the normal activity of the cell.
