circularization

circularization
The self-ligation of a linear DNA fragment having complementary ends, generally generated by digestion with a restriction endonuclease. Successful ligation produces a molecule in the form of a covalently-closed circle. Plastid DNA and plasmids are examples of naturally circularized DNA.
